Tea for Two: A Second Birthday Party

With an impeding due date on the horizon for the first week of June, Charlie and I decided to have Lily’s birthday party a few weeks early so that baby brother didn’t end up crashing it. I am really glad we did because her baby brother did end up arriving 5 days early on May 28th! Because the kiddos have birthdays so close together, they will likely be sharing parties for a little while so I wanted to do something SUPER girly for our super girly Lily this year. I decided on the Tea for Two theme because it was just too cute to pass up and to get Lily on board I gave her a little tea set and tea party book two weeks before the party as both a “happy first day of potty training” gift (a potty training post is coming soon!) and as a way to expose her to tea parties and get her excited for her party. ย My plan worked wonderfully (insert devious laughter here) and by the time Lily had her party she was ALL about tea parties and tea cups and the whole atmosphere. ๐Ÿ˜‰

We ended up with a really great turn out of friends and it made me so, so happy that we have been able to meet so many amazing people down here in Texas. Leaving all of our family and friends up north has certainly been challenging but all of the wonderful new friends that we have gained this past year have made our town here in Texas feel like a community we really belong to and love and I am eternally grateful for my new squad. With the solid amount of adults and toddlers and babies at the party we decided to have lots of fun foods: a donut tower, tea cup shaped sugar cookies, tea sandwiches for both adults and kids, a fruit tea pot, a tower of mini cupcakes and of course lots of coffee and tea among other things! We had a bounce house for the kids, ย a teapot shaped pull string piรฑata, lots of bubbles and balloons, and tea cup shaped sippy cups for each child (which I think stole the show). I found adorable sun hat and purse sets for each little girl on Amazon and I bought plain sun hats from the dollar store and converted them into fedoras for the little fellows in attendance. They were all just too cute in their little hats!

Here are some pictures from the party!
